Coaching is Different from Therapy

Pain Resilience Coaching helps people develop skills for responding to pain and other persistent symptoms with greater awareness, less fear, and increased confidence. Through education, guided practice, and ongoing support, clients learn to recognize how stress, thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations influence their experience and explore new ways of responding. Coaching complements medical care and does not replace diagnosis, medical treatment, or psychotherapy.

Pain Resilience Coaching is a wellness and behavior-change service, not mental health treatment or psychotherapy. Coaching focuses on your present experience and your goals for moving forward. We work with education, skills, mindfulness, behavior change, pain neuroscience, and your relationship with pain and activity.Therapy, by contrast, is a clinical service provided by a licensed mental health professional and may address mental health conditions, psychological symptoms,

trauma, relationships, or past experiences as part of treatment.

Pain Coaching does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions, provide psychotherapy, or replace medical or mental health care. Coaching can, however, complement those services. With your permission and when appropriate, coaching may be part of a broader whole-person care team.If pain is accompanied by significant emotional distress, trauma-related symptoms, depression, anxiety, or other concerns that require clinical treatment, your coach may recommend working with a licensed mental health professional alongside coaching.
